about

The album was recorded in 2003 after spending a year in Beijing, playing every Wednesday night at now legendary bar "The River" and travelling near Lanzhou, for the "Lotus hill" festival.

On the song Lotus Hill, i used the voice of the ethnic minorities from there. I bought a tape there with the voices of these people. The recording was of poor quality but i managed to remix it and compose a song around it.

"Enfant qui fûme" is built around a poem by my brother Christopher Héry.

I play the song "Xinjiang", using a Uyghur traditionnal instrument i bought when in Lanzhou, that instrument is called "Rivap".

This album is actually the third one i recorded. Due to the poor quality of the equipment i used, it doesn't sound as great as i wanted it to sound like. The quality of the sound of the recordings i did between 2000 and 2003 is even worse, and so i decided that i would rerecord part of those songs and probably do a new album with it...
